Participation Requirements:
To participate in AAU Men’s Basketball, a person must be a US citizen and be an amateur in accordance with the AAU Official Code. All players must be officially registered with the AAU prior to participation in any sanctioned AAU competition. NCML has instituted a minimum age restriction of 18 years old. Any basketball player will be permitted to participate in AAU Men’s competition, provided that player, at the time of AAU competition, is not under contract (being paid) to perform as a basketball player for any professional team.
It is imperative that proper procedures for registering athletes be followed to ensure eligibility and to obtain insurance coverage for the athletes, coaches and managers in accordance with the representations that are made to them in our membership materials.
There are three (3) essential requirements to obtain insurance coverage (Liability as well as accident)
- The athlete must be registered (coaches and managers should also register)
- The insurance premium and membership documentation must be transmitted by the NCML to the AAU National Office
- The competition must be conducted pursuant to a proper sanction (all teams and athletes register with the NCML)
Insurance Coverage is a valuable component of your team and individual NCML membership but is AVAILABLE ONLY IF FOREGOING PROCEDURES ARE FOLLOWED.
Financial Matters
To ensure the quality and conduct of NCML and TAC basketball competitions any team that forfeits one (1) regular season game and one (1) playoff game for any reason, shall be expelled from the TAC. Individual membership is not affected.
An expelled team may be reinstated upon payment of a $75 reinstatement fee to NCML, payable upon demand. A team failing to make such payment within three (3) calendar days of official request shall be ineligible for reinstatement.
There are no refunds of any fees paid to NCML with respect to the Triangle Area Classic. Be very certain of your team’s participation prior to making payments to the organization.
